Calm down slitz, all you need to do is put all your stuff in a trash dumpster and light it on fire(with water near by,just in case. we could'nt have you burning down the circus) then put the ashes in a pillow tie a string on it ,there you have a SIT-UPON.You can now carry all your stuff with you forever.(plus you have a nap-time pillow)

I moved not too long ago from a 3 bedroom house to a small one bedroom apartment. I had a garage sale for 1 day only on a Saturday, advertised in the newspaper and on craigslist, and ended up making $400...much more than what I thought I would make. I suggest having a garage sale, then using that money to help with your cost of moving...you'll probably have to pay deposits or something on your new place. Good luck!!

I hate moving so much, I lived in the same apartment for 13 years. It was a nice place tho, and I wish I still lived there.
It's amazing how much 'junk' a person accumulates over time without realizing it. Around here they have 'garage sales', but they don't really sell that much. I would try to give the stuff away or donate it to a church or charity.
The next time I move I think I'll hire professional movers, I'm getting to old to carry all this stuff around!

With a garage sale, you will still have to "deal" with all of the stuff. The easiest thing to do if you are not worried about making any money off of it is to donate it. Many places that accept donations of household items have a pick up service free of charge. Just pack the stuff you want, call them to come get everything else, and then go back and clean the place up.

Sometimes the most cathartic thing is to throw it away. If it is legal to burn it, BURN IT! You are physically moving, maybe it is time to let go of some "baggage" and move on spiritually too.. I just got rid of some stuff that had sentimental value only to me and was taking up loads of space. It was like jumping into cold water, hard at first, then felt good.

Two piles. What you really want and need. Everything else. Line it all up in the driveway and put up a YardSale sign. Make a little money on it and then just pitch out what you can't sell.

Find the things you haven't used in one year. If you haven't used it in that amount of time, you're not going to, so ditch it. Give the usable things to Goodwill, and throw away the rest.

I know this feeling. I have moved more than most people, and have never really managed to just get rid of it. I know people who have, and they were really pleased with the results. But not burn it - give it away if you decide to be brave.

I love putting crap out on the side of the road for the garbagemen and watching bums come along and loot through it! One clown's trash is another pinhead's trea-shawh!
