As the previous answerer said. Slavery is still around. I think the question you want to know was was it still around in the United States. The emancipation proclamation from President Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery in 1865. FDR was president from 1932-1944. There is open slavery trade going on right now in the African country of the Sudan. Hope this helps.

No, not in the United States. Slavery was abolished in 1863 with the Emancipation Proclamation while Abe Lincoln was president. (However, this did not grant former-slaves rights as American citizens.. that didn't come until the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments).

FDR was president during WWII (but Truman was president when the war ended) in the 1940s.
