Your brain interprets sounds that reach the eardrum through 'soundwaves' in the air. When you hear yourself think, it's similar to this interpretation but it came from a very different place. Since there are no soundwaves involved in this process, other people don't have the luxury of hearing it.

When you hear something, your hearing converts the vibrations into brainwaves so you can understand and interpret them. When you think of a sound (for example, someone talking, or remembering a song you like), you aren't generating sound. Instead, you are producing brain waves based on the waves that were produced before when you interpreted the sound.
Do people interpret sound, colors, feelings, tastes etc differently? I think so.

We hear everything you think, but we didn't want to hurt your feelings telling you we can. You know, because you can and all. Why are you so lame that you can't hear our thoughts? It's not like we're whispering or anything?
