I guess I'd have to say the "moment" it came into being. :-) Upon that, everything else rests.
One of the greatest moments in human history is certainly when our ancestors began to realize that the world and the universe were *knowable* -- which is to say that they could start to understand, predict, and harness its regularities, patterns and resources... and not have to live in fear every moment that the gods would get mad at any- and everything that displeased them, bringing floods and droughts and earthquakes. The moment science was born.

Probably the astroid leading to the destruction of the dinosaurs. That change the dynamic of the planet drastically, caused the iceage, altered the food chain.. etc

well i think its the invention of wheel which caused a "revolution".with out it u can guess our position.(thats past)
discovery of power or electricity.(present)
discovery to create life.(sounds impossible but it may be true in future.i hope i would be there to see it.)
