I also heard that there is a hand gesture that one makes to show
another that he too is a member of this organization, and that this
gesture is recognized the world over. What is it?

Well, Sir. Being a member of the craft as well as a shriner. I can tell you that you wont find that answer here. And if you do. It is most likely B.S. and not true. There are many ways, other than a hand shake to recognize a mason, but masens are not a secret society, and many proudly display their membership on their vehicles, and ring fingers. If you want more information from a creditable source, i recomend the book. "freemasons for dummies" this book is for everyone interested in masonry. I have read it and found it very useful for a non-mason as well as any member of the craft. Good luck.

Your avatar looks at is you might be a woman. If that is the case, and you are still interested when you are over 21, of good moral character, tolerant of folks of all religions, believe in a Supreme Being, not a slave (and that includes to drugs), and wish to better yourself and all of mankind, please feel free to contact American Co-Masonry, Freemasonry for WOMEN and men.

It is a slow process, becoming a useful part of society, but we do try. You must ask to join. The secrets are not about the handshakes and the gestures. The secrets are about what happens inside you. Ever hear of alchemy: the turning of lead into gold? Well, apply that to your heart. That is a secret and it takes work.

So, you asked. You got sort of an answer. You want more? I agree that Freemasonry for Dummies is an ok book. But it is just the outer forms. Esoteric stuff is rarely written down. _Hiram Key_ and _Second Messiah_are interesting speculations. You have enough now to read. The link is below to my Order. Feel free to click on that and to contact me directly.
