It makes people comfortable knowing that they are surrounded by their own stuff...Its their stuff and no one else's...What we have is a way of expressing ourselves...I love to be surrounded by my stuff...It makes my room, my house different than anyone else's...it makes my house a home...I like to express myself through clothes and I don't know, I love getting new stuff...especially new clothes!

I'm not a pack-rat, so I don't have lots of stuff compared to others. Still, I too look around and wonder how I accumulated all the things I have and whether I really need them or not. Looks like this weekend will be a charity run for me -- time to drop off some stuff for others who need it more.

your just like me - givign stuff to goodwill. what i have heard about stuff - there is a time in a persons life when they get bored with the things that they already have. they keep getting the new stuff that is cool or what they want. its not neccesary, they just want to have fun. there was this story about a man who had gotten so much stuff. he was wealthy and had a gorgeous house, but he had no family. he got tons of STUFF and played with it. did everything he wanted to with his money. but he still wasnt as happy and a regular family with the smallest house. overwhelming huh?

"The eyes of a man are never satisfied."
Pascal said that each human has a God-shaped vacuum in his heart. Since nature abhors a vacuum, man tries to fill it, often with stuff.
Society adds to that burden, as we are required to have specialized tools for many jobs. (i.e. specific child car seats for each aged child) Not that car seats are "evil" but it's a fact that we are pressured to have more from outside and inside.

If everyone is like me, it is b/c most of the stuff we have, people have given to us and for some reason, it is meaningful. I don't know why. I just feel bad giving or throwing something away when it was given to me.

People have STUFF to try to fill emptiness inside themselves. I used to have tons of stuff. But then I joined www.flylady.net and got my house declutterred. Then I joined my local freecycle group (www.freecycle.org) and donated all my junk away. :) Now I've got an open airy house that is very clean and not full of crap. :) LOL. I try to encourage others to join me and be happy & clutter free. :)

Because I can hold on to something for years and never need it but shortly after I get rid of it I will need it.

They are fools cause they don't know god. stiff is their God. They spend their lifetime trying to gain stuff and leave their stuff behind them for people who don't deserve them.
