Yes, during some of my various "dark nights of the soul". Why didn't I follow through? Real simple spiritual rule: Whatever you didn't complete in this incarnation, you'll only have to return and complete it, and usually, there's a great deal of remorse for doing so once you're on "the other side". Think about it --- no matter how bad things get, the worst that can happen to you is that your physical body dies, and isn't that what ends up happening anyway? Nah, I'm here at the party, might as well ride it out 'til the end.
After allowing myself to have those "moments of dark despair", I get real serious about switching my thinking to an attitude of gratitude...no matter how initially small my list appears to be, I find that it grows as I focus on what IS a blessing...
If you find that you're having thoughts of taking your own life on a daily basis, I'd suggest you seek some help with a good counselor/therapist. I'm not hep on taking a pill to mask a problem, but there ARE some legitimate applications. Bottom line, unless there is a genuine chemical imbalance, you shouldn't be on meds for the rest of your life, but might need them while you work through your issues with some qualified help.

Yes!

The answer IS NOT to carry it out. You need medication to treat your depression. Normal depression does not reach this point, so you know there is an imbalance.

If you can't afford medication or medical help on your own, you need to find someone who can provide it, at least until you can pay. Look in the phone book under suicide or call Suicide Prevention, or, if all else fails, go to the ER of the nearest hospital and tell them what's going on. When you say the word suicide, they HAVE TO get you to someone (by law).

I've been on desyril and citalopram for three years and life is good. It doesn't impair my function. I GOT WELL and dealt with my problems. YOU CAN TOO.

Yes several times as a teenager, and I have learned that suicidal pple are weak minded and try to escape by taking the easy way out. Trials and tribulations of our lives help us later on in life, beleive it or not. Just find the positive in every situation and learn from it. AS a teen I was young and didn't know how to react or solve the problem, but there is a reason and answer to everything. The thing is.... is to find a way around it, or seek help from someone who is willing to help you find a way. Be strong and wise....

Sure, who hasn't?! I would never do it, but just yesterday, it was pouring rain, I was feeling kinda bummed and I accidentally ran into a curb with my boyfriends car and it caused some damage. Ohhh, he was mad. I was like, uhhhh, I wanna kill myself. But, of couse I keep on surviving through the good and the bad. But today is a new day, it's sunny and I guess we all have to just keep on keepin' on!

Yes, when I was young and didn't understand disappointment.

I'm so glad I didn't do it because I would have missed out on the true joy of being alive.

If you are thinking about it - DON'T. Life gets better when you get older and more accepting.

i think everyone has thought of ending their life. life is hard sometimes and giving up and getting out seems much easier than facing your problems and overcoming. life is also precious and there isn't anything that is worth killing yourself because of. there is always someone out there who has gone through the same thing and came out the other side. find them and talk to them.
