Just recently I started discovering my singing voice. ( I'm 12) It's not bad at all but it could be better. I want to be a country music singer when I am older and maybe even go on American Idol. But I'm afraid to sing in front of people. Is becoming a country music singer only for people who have dreamed of it there whole lives like Carrie Underwood? Should I just give up my dream ? Do you think I could be a singer? Please help me and give me some ideas and tips to get my confidence up and improve my singing voice. I don't want to join our school choir because the guy teacher is old and can't sing worth a flip. Please help. Thanks -Rachel

I think you should get a vocal coach that will help you not to be scared when you sing in front of people. Whatever you do don't give up your dream. Try everything there is.

Don't give up ur dream, whatever you do. You can start by just singing in the car and at ur house when a song u like is on. Make sure u can at least sing in front of ur parents and brothers/sisters. Then you can start singing in front of ur friends. Maybe you can do some school things that will help you, ex. talent show, (our school has an American Idol thing). Just don't give up

Go for it. If you can sing, sing. I know it's outside most people's comfort zone but you have to venture outside that comfort zone all the time in the real world. If you go to church, talk to your music minister (if he can sing) and get him to give you vocal lessons. My sister went throught the same thing, GOOD LUCK!!

When I was your age I felt more comfortable each time I sang in front of an audience. Just keep getting experience.
