His has two and I have one from a previous relationship. This is the first person my son has been around since his father.

Keep yourself busy hun! It really worked for me. As much as I hated working out, I got a membership to the Y and got a second job bartending. It helps a lot. Keep you options open. Good luck with everything

You're right, if you want to move on, and you've have had a serious relationship, being "friends" is a bad idea. It too easy to want to snuggle up to the guy that you still care for, but know you know he's not the one you want to end up with.

Maybe I'm just saying this because I've never been able to stay friends with any guy I semi-seriously dated. Whenever I tried, it always turned into some weird off-and-on relationships that required a second break up - the "no really, we shouldn't even see each other ever again" break up. It was a waste of time, and really messed with my head and heart.

Gee, what took you so long!

By the way whose children are we talking about? Are they yours together with the boyfriend? If they are yours and not his, no problem, except for the ones created by the breakup. Children are always affected. Try not to keep on the path of moving from one boyfriend to another and having your children put through all those changes and emotional situations.

Tell him that you need to make a clean break, that it would be best if he did the same. That is unless the children mentioned are his.

Would you want your kids to be in a relationship like this? This point of your life should be about self-discovery, not working your butt off for zero rewards. If you want to jump back into the relationship because it's comfortable that's your choice. Honestly, you could do a lot better than this guy if you randomly picked someone off the street. To me this is a no-brainer. Leave him and don't look back.
