limit the # of programs that automatically run at startup. The best way to do this is go to "run" and type "regedit" but make sure you know what your doing because you can shut down a computer quick this way.

If you are using WINDOWS XP or windows 98 than you should runa program called MSCONFIG

Go to your START BUTTON:
SELECT RUN:

TYPOE MSCONFIG into the BOX click OK

MSCONFIG will list SYSTEM.INI
WIN.INI
Boot.ini
SERVICES
Startup

First uncheck anything in STARTUP you don't need.

Then check SERVICES (yahoo search the services name) many items are REQUIRED but some are waste of resources if YAHOO tells you its OK to remove uncheck it.

delete as much startup crap as u can.. use ccleaner, a free utility that works really well... also, put less programs on it so more memory can be accessed as it boots up
