Yes, personality traits. When people have opposite personalities, they balance out each other. For example, say one person is spontanous, but unorganized and the other is very deliberate and planning and very organized. The person who's spontaneous will help the planner losen up more. And the planner will help the unorganized person keep things in order.

It doesn't mean in interests or values. How can someone who only loves opera, the theatre (stage not movie) and the symphony enjoy time with someone that only loves WWE wrestling and Jerry Springer. There has to be a common ground of interests to enjoy time together.

It's everything. What you like to do, your opinions and your personality traits. It's refreshing for some people to have someone who isn't like them in every way so things stay interesting. It would be boring if you agreed on everything, liked all the same things, etc. I don't really believe that complete opposites attract, however, because neither of you would have any common ground and you wouldn't agree on anything.

From my experience, I think opposites attract because you see something(not necessarily consciously, but in your subconscious, ya know?)in that other person, that you may not have. For instance, in our marriage, I am outgoing, my husband is more reserved. I am more from the heart, he is more logical, but honestly, we balance each other out well. I think though that you do need and want to have some common base, similar morals, beliefs, all of that. It's a great foundation and then you can grow from there. It's also good to have your own hobbies, friends and interests but then to have something(at least one, if not more)together, to do as a couple. For beyond those couples who have kids and they grow up, you want to have a loving relationship always there, though it sure gets tested throughout the years!!!!! :)

Oppsoites atract but it won't last. After the thrill of the novelty wears out, then it will be a uphill battle because you realize that all of his pesonalit traits irritate.

Compatability is important if you want to have a longlasting relationship.

With no common interest, the relationship is ultimately doomed, as the only thing that bonds them is the psysical aspect of the relationship.

Good luck

I do believe in opposite attracts. Because what you lack, the other person has that will make for easy conversation. Like two people who compliment each other.

I think when it comes to religion or morals, there's fine line that cannot cross. And that's where opposite attracts doesn't not fall in together.

Say maybe you like something that he/she doesn't like, would you hate him/her for liking it? No, but maybe you will learn to tolerate it. It's all about compromise. But I'm getting off topic now..

My husband and I used to be really opposite--he is really quiet, I am really talkative, he is shy, I will make friends with every stranger i meet, he is into sports, I am into shopping...but as the years go by we are kind of meeting in the middle more and becoming more alike, kind of weird!! But he actually used to play that old Paula Abdul "Opposites Attract" song for me all the time!!

Yes, I believe opposites can and do attract one another. It must be because they find the opposite person so interesting.

I agree that opposites attract, but that doesnt mean they always work out. You have to balance your give and take carefully! I guess in the end it really matters if the opposites are things you can handle!

I know they say it balances things out but I dont think opposites attract. Its much easier to get along with someone who thinks like you.
