I don't have kids yet but I do remember my parents' method of making me do my homework back then. And just let me tell you, I was one stubborn-head-strong kid. They paid me. Hang a $5 bill from the ceiling to the center of the table. Whoever finish their homework first get that $5 bill.

I LIKE MONTY'S IDEA!!!!!! Ima do that to my fellow youngsters. I lecture the fuuck outta' them, sometimes i wouldnt know what im talking about, but eventually the kid will say,"Shiit are you done talking yet?" Then yah' say,"No inless your gonna do your homework." If they dont continue with their homework then you continue with your lecture. Kids hate lectures.

You should help them with it. Then they have attention from you, (which is a reward) and you are on top of what they are learning in school. Sharing their school experience is a good motivator.

Take them downtown - show them the bums on the street, and ask them "do ya think they did their homework".....
