WWIII didn't start today with the attacks on Lebanon, nor did it start on 9/11. It is in progress, though. It began with a whimper, not a bang, and is a direct result of U.S. foreign and domestic policy choices since the end of the Cold War.
We have known about an impending worldwide energy crisis for about 30 years and have accomplished little to lessen our dependence on foreign oil or to lessen our unsustainable consumption of it. Now, as we reach the inevitable peak in worldwide oil production, it is becoming clearer to the average American that our "way of life" and the relative peace that we have had for decades has required an imperialist foreign policy to control worldwide energy resources and to knock out any possible resistance to greedy U.S. policies.
The average person may know this on some level, but many people still have the mindset predicted in the 1976 film "Three Days of the Condor." At the end of that motion picture, Robert Redford questions how the American public would respond to the energy shortages of the future and a theoretical pre-emptive invasion of the Middle East. The conclusion reached is that most people wouldn't be asking questions and wouldn't want to hear answers - as long as they were fed and their lifestyles didn't have to change too much.
Sooner or later, maintaining our lifestyle and the morality of our motives will no longer be the main issues, as forced sacrifice will be the new game. An authoritarian government, a police state on the streets, rolling blackouts across the country, widespread rioting in dangerous cities, and a media controlled entirely by the government - this is what we might expect in the relatively short term (10-20 years).
Should we be scared? Yes and no. The problems are real, and fear for our way of life and loved ones is an appropriate and natural response. However, fear is also the tool that those in power use to control the masses. Without our fear, they would have no power over us. We should strive to understand our predicament, rather than to fear it. We must be prepared to accept change and sacrifice when it comes to our energy usage. At the same time, we must remain vigilant when we are asked to change and sacrifice civil liberties and freedoms along the way.
The first step towards the truth and answers is to question everything - from what you read day to day in the mainstream newspapers to the official "histories" of current events such as 9/11. Research as much as you can, while you still can - the Internet and freedom of the press are going to be two unexpected casualties in this resource war that will not end in our lifetimes.

Sure, WW 3 could begin, but if you think about the period between the end of WW 2 and now, there have been many other dangerouls situations - the Cuban missile crisis, the shot down soviet spy plane, and others I cant think of right now. I am worried yes, but there really isnt much we could do, even if WW 3 starts, it s out of our hands, so the best we can do is hope for the best. If humanity hasnt learned from the horrors and atrocities of WW 2, and 60 years later it feels like maybe it should try a war again, then this doesnt speak too well for our species, does it. As Einstein said " I dont know with what weapons WW3 will be fought, but WW 4 will be fought with sticks and stones"

Wait...what??? Japan is the problem in Asia? The US wasn't attacked by middle Eastern terrorist? Israel is responding to rocket barrages and kidnappings, aren't they? Did you take that approach intentionally? Only the west can cause a catastrophe like world war.. is that it? Just like our policies in the middle east are the reason that those trains were detonated in India..Right?

First of all, I personally believe that a Third world War cannot be excluded by our future, yet I believe that we will have disgraced the name of the human race and the future generations, if any, will make a variety of world wars... Because like father like son... Although I believed that since the world is getting educated more and more everyday, we have been educated by fear, exterminating anything different, anything that might threat our ' Perfect life' . We are we tough by fear? Because fear brings in power, in the earlier centuries power full races, men, women, professionals used fear upon their enemies by force blackmail, etc. Today we use fear discussed as safety, courage, heroism, security, patriotism, anti racism, racism, peace, and unfortunately LOVE. It might be strange that I use racism and anti-racism, yet racist are feared of anti racists and the other way around therefore I cannot exclude anti-racism. In deptth it would take all my life answering your question because I know that 90% of my thoughts are wrong but 10% will come true and I hope that these will be my dreams and not my nightmares.
Ending this answer if i am afraid...
Well I am... But not because of my life or of those that I love...
Because I want to change this system before I die... Dreamer, yes quiter no...
Plus death by an atomic bomb doesn't hurt. As I hear.
P.S. Be afraid of the war that is in the streets, the schools and in our everyday lives. Who knows we might just need aWorld War to eliminate all this brutality around us...
Who knows...

If WW3 starts in the next few years (or heck, has already even started) I would not be surprised.
I would not be afraid. If N Korea decided it wanted to attack the US I would be a little nervous because I live two blocks from the Pacific Ocean. But not enough to change my life over it.

I saw a thing on TV claiming that 80% of the Western World believed there will be a Armageddon. The study went on to say that people in Asia also believe a final war concept they just don't call it Armageddon

WW "3" is just around the corner.... it's just a matter of time.
No, I am not scared. I'm Canadian..... but I'm sure your Pres will take our PM (Prime Minister) into getting involved.
A pitty really..... and I'm too damn old to enlist! My nephew however is training and on his way up to the CF-18 Hornet.
I'm both proud, and scared "for him" at the same time.
He "HAS" the right stuff.... I just would'nt want to be in the cockpit of the enermy aircraft that he tangles with.....and another one bites the dust!
