I've never worn a tampon because I always found it too difficult to put in, but the other day I needed to wear one and put it in very slowly - and it still hurt, most of the way up. Taking it out was difficult and painful too. Even just putting my pinky in is difficult. And I produce plenty of discharge, that's not the problem. I'm 19, and while I'm slim I'm not unusually skinny. Will my vagina widen as I grow older? If not, I'm worried I won't be able to have sex. It would certainly be incredibly painful, if not impossible, if I were to try now.

First of all let me say how proud I am of you for still having your virginity! A rare thing in this day at your age.

To address your problem, maybe all that is needed is for your hymen to be stretched to allow easier entry. You should visit your family doctor and tell him your concerns.

If you are a virgin, then it is likely that you just don't know how to relax your muscles down there. When you insert a tampon, try squating a little with your butt sticking out slightly. Then consciously try to relax those muscles, you will feel what I'm talking about. I had that problem too. When I got married, sex hurt for me all the time because I am naturally small, but also because I didn't know how to relax those muscles. Practice trying to relax them and contract them, it will help you have more control. Hope this helps!

Was your pinky lubed when you tried to put it in?
(i'm not sure if that's what you meant by discharge).

I'm sure you will be fine, might have to have sex a few times to stretch things out..... I've never heard of a woman being unable to have sex for this reason.

hmmm

Have you people not ever heard of asking your doctor these questions? People on yahoo in general are medical experts and as any reasonably intelligent person can tell you, although we are all human, we are all different. Seek and educated, personalized opinion about your particular problem.... Ask your Mother, Father, best friend, not a bunch of strangers!

I knew a girl in college with exactly the same
condition. It will not change on its own over
time. See a doctor to ensure it's not something
wrong (it most likely isn't). Then, probably, before
things like sex, you might need to work your way up
starting with something narrow and stretching out, so
to speak.
