to PAUL: please read your history current history where do you get your info?? The attacks fell off because the Hamas had no power there were peace talks happening. So they ran and somehow were elected to run Palestine and they said NO to peace and started their attacks again. Iraq had NOTHING to do with Hamas.
Now to answer the question. We do support Israel. They do not want us to fight their war. We support them in many other ways. They are an independent and well run country. If they want us they will ask us.

I think you have supported Israel more than enough. Lobbying the United Nations to create the ficcional state over Palestinian lands, giving million of dollars in aid, voting against UN resolutions that condemn the poor human right standars in the country, selling weapons, supporting embargoes against Arab countries, etc.
Did you know that in Israel, a jewish person and a palestinian are not allowed to marry? Did you know that arabs are often discriminated against or segregated behind walled territories?
What are the fundaments for US support torwards an state with such poor democratic and human rights credentials?
I am appaled by the level of ignorace of world events and politics that people on this site display daily. It's no wonder that the world is so screwed up. We will never have true democracy in the world if we fail to achieve an educated and alert citizenry to defend it.

Israel has the best nuclear weapons, and military arsenal the US can give in that region. Without these favorable donations, Israel would have been crushed a long time ago.
