quite a slow processor... but i would not use all that protection at once on such a slow computer... it will slow it down by 50% at least. Um..advantages of XP... better updates... better interface... supposedly faster... limited accounts... better security. diadvantages... more data... i would just clean up all the crap in it with ccleaner at ccleaner.com at least once a week and go to pcworld.com to find some time saving ways on ur computer and stick with the XP because 2000 with give u even more grief

With a processor that slow I would use Windows 98 SE... but Windows 2000 Pro will be better than Windows XP Home... You can install both at the same time and choose which one you want to use. I think you will be happier with Windows 98 though...

If you want maximum compatibility, stick with XP. As a newbie I wouldn't worry about changing the OS as its a big undertaking if you haven't done so before. For what you want XP should be okay.

i think advance towards XP Pro, XP Pro does'nt makes the processor going down just change its setting to BEST PERFORMANCE mode from BEST APPEREANCE mode, and hopefully u will enjoy the difference. 2000 Pro is also a nice choice but not really the FINAL choice. best of luck.

As a newbie, I wouldn't suggest you try to change your OS.

If you do make sure you have drivers for every piece of equipment you have, before you start.

no, winxp home is very useful for newbies like you, win2000pro is older and has a lot of bugs(older win2k pros) or stuff lyk that... winxp home is convenient everything's almost automated... i'd say stick with winxp home
