The kids and I are growing pumpkins, radishes, carrots, corn. Will any of these come back next year or do we need to replant them all?

You might have some volunteer corn, but it won't be any good. The only veggies in my granny's garden that came back year after year (that I can remember anyway) were rhubarb and asparagus. You can, however, save the seed from your pumpkins to use next year.

Not usually. This year my spinach was volunteer. Volunteer is the term used when a plant comes back. Check out your local extension office for information on planting a garden in your area. They are a valuable resource.

Search for: Your state Cooperative Extension (Texas Cooperative Extension) and find the link for county office to find your local office and horticulture agent.

Good Luck

Most vegetable plants are annuals (meaning they grow, blossom, and fruit in one season). The ones you listed are definately in this category. There are a few biennial and perennial ones, but not very many. You will have to re-plant next year.

No - you'd need to re-plant them, the pumpkins might re-seed themselves, if left to rot on the garden, but you're better off re-planting with new seeds next year.

Asparagus and rhubarb are the only perennial vegetables. Sometimes tomatoes or other vegetables such as cucumbers that rot and fall to the ground may seed themselves, or other vegetables that have gone to seed may volunteer, but you can't count on it.

None that I am aware of. You need to plant new ones every spring.
