You do pay for the service but downloading movies is still considered stealing because you're getting the movie for free while the people who produce the movies lose out on possible money that could have come in if the movie is in theaters or on DVD. The service for the internet is in fact something you are paying for but downloading for free just isn't part of the perks.

You have to think about the people that are connected to the making of the movie.. not just the actors or the producer.. I'm talking smaller.... the writer.. the prop guys... the little guy that gets coffee and gets smacked around... everyone of those people...(witch are very many) have to get paid from this.. it is there job.. and if the customers are taking but not paying then there isnt any income for those ppl whom worked so hard.... the company is putting out money and not getting enough back... i dont have to go on.. you can do the math... but i will tell you if everyone done this .. then it would be the fall of our economy.. think about it....
if i ever get a movie like that... when i have money i will go out and buy the original because you have to admit.. it is so much better.. special stuff on the dvd... :)

As long as you are paying for it then it isn't stealing, if you download without paying then it is stealing.... i know i had to explain to my boys why I wouldn't download movies like some other people they know did. Because some sites offer movies and music illegally through sharing programs but some places will allow you to buy the movies or music online to download.

Yes it's stealing. You paid for your internet service, but you haven't paid for the right to download the film (unless you go to Vongo.com). Movie theaters and tv stations pay the filmmakers for the right to show the movie for the patrons. The internet service provider doesn't.

yes. and here is why. there are a lot of people that invested thousands upon thousands of dollars in schooling just to be able to get a job in that industry be it camera man or director etc. the only way they get paid is if 1 of 2 things happens you go see the movie or you buy the movie. its kind of like if you open a lemonade stand up on the side of the street. are you going to just let people take your product without paying for it? my guess is no. piracy is a crime even if its done in the confounds of your own home. most of the people behind the scenes in these movies are not paid an outstanding amount of money anyhow so why would you want to make it harder for them to make a living? how would you feel if your family couldn't survive because some punk 13 year old kid wanted to rob you blind? that's what it boils down to. but its not just one kid its millions, and that's where the loss is. don't be a criminal, just buy the dang thing DVDs are like 20 bucks any way.

Not everyone has to pay for their internet service if they are attached to a school or at work, and you don't actually pay for the movie itself. Yes, it's really stealing.

Does your Internet Service Provider pay royalties to the maker of every movie that you download?

yes it is definitely stealing. Paying for internet service has no relevance to downloading illegal movies online.

Is it stealing to not pay your tv licence?
Is it stealing to tape a song from the radio or film from the tv? (been happening for years)
It's a tricky one, your getting something for nothing but your not depriving the owner of anything.
Its not stealing but not far off, besides I can't see how they deserve to be paid for producing 99% rubbish movies.
