Probably because it's rated PG-13. Not to mention it has a character death and Voldemort is kinda creepy looking. But have you read the book? I don't see why he won't let you see it if you've read the book. You already know what to expect. But ultimately it's his choice.

I really don't know. I was ten when it came out and I saw it on opening day (I'm going into 7th grade now and I've been reading the books since 1st). The reason is that the director added a sexual scene between Myrtle and Harry in the bathtub, which was not in the book, even though Myrtle was present in that scene. The end scenes are pretty dark too, but if you are a fan of the books you have a right to see it.

It's kind of violent, but not something a 10 year old should be scared of...Hmm I don't know why don't you ask him? Ask in a nice way, not a bratty way like "daddyyyyyyy I wanna see Harry Potter 4, why can't I?". Ask in a curious way, just ask what's wrong with the movie, nothing else.

I am 24 and I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to. But I don't have any children either. Maybe he is trying to protect you from the graphic scenes. Someone dies in the movie. Are you usually allowed to watch movies that have people die in them? Did you read the book? If you did then you know what happens and it shouldn't be much of a shock to you. Maybe talk to him about it maturely and ask him exactly why. If he still won't let you then wait until you are older.

I let my kids watch it without watching it myself first and wish I hadn't. It's a lot darker and scarier than the other three Harry Potter movies. Trust your dad. You'll be ready to watch it in a year or two.

wow that's kind of crazy but I'm sure he has your best interest at heart he loves you and wants what is best for you...maybe you should ask him this talk to him like a mature responsible kid and don't say that's not fair all my friends watch it or any thing like that just let him know you think you r mature enough to handle it and you would love for him to watch it with you and if this doesn't work tell him you understand that hes not being mean and you love him any way then go on with your business....he will prob.think hard about what you told him & maybe even change his mind but if he doesnt im sure he will think about your attitude and understanding and he will respect you more as a mature 10 year old & not his baby any more!! good luck!!

OMG; If he saw the stuff you read here, he'd let you watch an xxx movie. Maybe he does it because he is so smart that he understands the kind of crap that Harry Potter is. Sorry, I hate him.

Well hun, there could be several different reasons but the point is because they said so.
My son is 10 and I don't agree with the story line either. I watched it and it is scary. Remember this. You cannot "unsee" things. Once you have seen pictures, it is in your mind.
Your parents love you and they are doing a good job to protect you.
Thank God that you have parents that love you.
God Bless,
Heather
By the way, my son is looking for online buddies if you have want to email him. His name is Daniel and you can send it to my address with your parents permission. I would have to talk to them first though. :) He is 10 also and going in the fifth grade, we are just outside of St. Louis, Mo.
Bye.

This answer is coming from an *old* adult: It does have several rather violent scenes in it, which rates it PG 13. Did you ask him? You could ask him to watch it with you. Voldemort appears in this movie, and even as an adult, I must say he gave me the creeps. The movie is good - but the book is better.
