For a good treatment of the subject of Love, see Pope Benedict's new encyclical: God is Love. He talks about all types of love.

“Today, the term “love” has become one of the most frequently used and misused of words, a word to which we attach quite different meanings…. love between man and woman, where body and soul are inseparably joined and human beings glimpse an apparently irresistible promise of happiness. Yes. Love can be life. Love can be more than you are yourself. Love can overtake you and lead you where you need to be. It can make you crazy, or make you happy. Love, true love, will never depress you. If some one truly loves you, they won't guilt you if you can't see them that second or make you depressed on purpose. I learned that the hard way.

yes, as you love and have heartache, a new love comes along and love becomes more intense, and so on. When ever it is that you find your true love and best friend ( both in my opinion are necessary) love becomes more than love.

Only love can be more than itself. Hatred is so mean and self-centric, it will hardly take the envious anywhere.
