I saw the video and personally I think it could have been better. When I hear the song I think of a showgirl theme for some reason. Maybe its the instruments that they use and the way her voice sounds in the song. And if anybody thinks she is imitating Shakira in this video then they should also point fingers at those Bollywood women in india that do hip gyrations when they sing, are they copying Shakira too?. Everybody does a hip shake every now and then, Shakira is not entitled to be the only one to do it (even if she is one of the best).

Love it. The African dances were creative. It was a little too much movement, and alot of changing scenes, but that's just what the music entertainment and video world needs - innovation, change, and a break from the norm. As for her copying off of Shakira, I say Beyonce's too good for that.
She has stated her moves come from herself/Sasha, choreographers, and the showstopping performer and legend herself - Tina Turner (which is obvious). I'm sure, as a performer, Beyonce admires anyone who can move onstage and entertain well, and she probably uses their creative energy as an inspiration for her own, but she doesn't try to copy them I'm sure. She's too unique and innovative herself. I think people should let Beyonce be and be proud that there is a talented, minority who is all for female empowerment.
She's sexy, not trashy but classy. She's intelligent, reserved, she writes & produces her own music, acts, models, and performs like no other. She is human of course, and she isn't perfect, but anyone can tell, when she is on stage, or recording a song or video, she gives it her all to AIM for perfection.
I give her props for creating such a great, unique video, but I would like to add, the "Deja Vu" song lacked substance. I haven't heard a women empowerment song from her as a solo artist (other than "Me, Myself, and I"). I really miss the Beyonce that wrote "Survivor," "Through With Love," "Free," "Lose My Breath," "Independent Women," etc.
I'm sure that Beyonce may step forward on her second album though, until then, lets give her room to grow as she has done for the past few years as an artist and person. She's an amazing lady. I'm sure she will give us nothing less than a legend in the making :>. Let's continue to support such a rare talent - Beyonce.

I didn't see no hip movements like Shakira, whoever said that wasn't watching. She was doing more African- type dances. I like Shakira, but this video didn't even remind me of her, and Beyonce is much better, and her own person. I don't think she would want to copy off of anyone. On TRL, she even said she was trying to be different with this video, and indeed, it's not like any video I've ever seen before. I like the dances though, they were cute, and her seen with Jay was cute, too.

I didn't see any bellydancing like Shakira, the other hip shaking movements were in the part on the beach where she was African dancing, which, in my opinion didn't go with the video. But no, I think she was pretty different in the video, which was a mistake.

yea i saw it this morning on mtv and i really didn't like it very much, it was a confusing video. I think she could have come up with a better video than that. My sister said that she looks like j-lo when she had her hair in a ponytail. There was too many scene selections and she kept moving and my eyes didn't know where to look.
