Well, Ohma (or however you spell that name) used this phrase while trying to convince Daniel Jackson he had lead a good life (I love that episode). I think it means when you realize a candle is enough, you will realize you have done enough [for enlightenment], or you have accomplished what needed to be done.

It means that if you only use your 5 physical senses to perceive what is happening around you, you're missing the main event. Ohma was trying to get Daniel to open his mind to things he could not smell, taste, see, hear, or touch.
