From what I hear they work every part of the body and teach you to relax, but still control your lower body very well. Belly dancing is supposed to have a similar work out. A combination of the two would be a powerful force to contend with!

I too have been thinking about a new workout. I told my husband about it and he installed a pole in our bedroom. While I am still good at shaking my butt, I wanted to learn how to get up and down the pole, and still look sexy. I recall Lisa Rena from soap talk talking to this trainer who does it in Cali, but I don't know if there are videos. I might have to make a trip to a strip club, if there are no videos' or disk.

If you have netflix you can rent Carmen Electra's strip dance aerobics DVDs. I've never seen them myself, but I know she put out some. (Put out DVDs, heh.) Titles include:
Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease
Carmen Electra's Fit to Strip
Carmen Electra's The Lap Dance
Carmen Electra's Advanced Aerobic Striptease
Carmen Electra's Hip Hop
Scary Movie 4
oops, that last one was for me.

You build quite a bit of muscle learning to stay up on the pole and control your body. It works you out.
There is a sneak clip on this site of pole dancing.

Students begin to actually feel the music and have private, meditative moments that, coupled with the intense workout, are truly cleansing.
