Instead of prescription iron pills, go to the health food store and get chelated iron. Blackstrap molassas iron tablets are really good. That's what I took. They don't make you constipated like the prescription kind can.

You can also ask at the health food store about Floradix liquid, which is absorbed really well. Taking chlorophyll or drinking nettle tea can also help raise your iron levels.

Iron-rich foods include leafy greens such as spinach and broccoli, strawberries, meats, whole grains, prune juice, dried fruit, legumes, and blackstrap molasses.

Iron is most easily absorbed when taken with vitamin C, so drinking OJ when you have iron-rich foods can help you get more out of it.

My wife had this problem for much of her life. She took thos huge Iron pills which were hard on her stomach, and rarely did any good. We found a LIQUID Iron supplement which absorbed quicker into the system and really did make a different. I recommend you get to to a health food store and try it. TAstes terrible, but works.
