Why or why not?

no, people will forget about it after a while, just like with maradona and drugs. He had a great career with many accomplishments and those are bigger and more important then a couple of his mistakes. Zidane was a great player, and that's what we should remember him as, not as the person who headbutted Materazzi.

It was an act made on the brink of a nervous breakdown, with both teams at maximum nervous pressure to score in the overtime and avoid the penalty shootout. It seems that Materazzi said something to Zidane, nobody knows what, then Zizou made a run-up and head-butted the Italian player. The red card was deserved, although being given after a quick talk between Elizondo (the central ref) and the 4th referee, Luis Medina Cantalejo, who probably knew what had happened from the sideline referee that spotted the head-butt. In the end it was a disgraceful end to a good career as a football player for Zidane.

I think majority of people around the world still support Zidane. He was greatest soccer player of all time.

I do not blame Zidane. Italy only won because Zidane was not at the field. Italy used very deceiving and conniving method to win their championship. Most countries don't seem really care that Italy won... except Italy of course. How sad.

No i dont think so because matterazi said very vulgar words to him and zidane reacted just like any other person would react. The only regret that zidane will be having that if he could have stayed on for those last crucial 10 minutes on the field he could have won the world cup for france.

No one will remember in 5 years. Remember when Roberto Alemor (sp?) spit in the umpires face. Most people don't remember or care anymore. Wait until the next big sports scandal happens.
