I love that movie, it is the best movie ever made.

Best is a very subjective term... Shawshank Redemption is one of the better movies out there, but there actually were plenty of people who didn't like it. So the question is difficult to answer with anything definitive.

It's one of my top ten perfect movies! Great story, brilliant acting, terrific dialog - not a weak moment in the whole flick.
Along with:
Casablanca
The Princess Bride
Cool Hand Luke
The Big Chill
My Cousin Vinny
A Few Good Men
and a few others that escape me at the moment.
My favorite depends on what I'm in the mood for that night.

I think I've got half of the dialog memorized.
I can't flip through cable stations and not watch it if it's on. It pulls me right in everytime.
Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins are extradorinary.
I think, more than redemption it's the message of hope that appeals to me and so many people on a very primal level.
We all hope whether we recognize it or not. Hope keeps us alive. The scene with the greyhound bus chugging toward the mexican coast and Morgan Freeman's voiceover - ". . .and I hope." always gets me.
I want to kiss the ground and thank all life for being.
. . .yeah, I kinda like it ; )

Absolument not. It couldn't make out better than the book and in my books no movie is good enough until it can even fairly represent its original line-up. N.B. Shawshank was a Stephen King short story so no excuse to producers and screenplay writers.

It's one of my favorites, top 5 definitely, maybe top 3. According to IMDB, its the second best movie ever made, behind the godfather. It has a 9.0 out of 10. Godfather has a 9.1. and godfather 2 has an 8.9 and comes in third

It was a great movie, but I don't think it was the best movie ever made. I couldn't tell you what movie was the best movie ever made, because there are a lot of great movies out there!!

Must be up there TNT is always playing it, but as in most cases they take out scenes, that is one movie that should not be edited to enjoy the full effect of the movie. I still watch it when its on.

I feel that it is at least, the best movie of the 90's. I also feel that Morgan Freeman's performance is the best of the 90's.

that's such a GREAT movie! It's number 2 on the best movies - number one is The godfather
