most auto part stores sell rebuilt ones cost $15 and up check the cost it comes with new bolts and most of the times with the other part also
dont try to tap it yourself as a little croocked is bad
if the part that is striped can be unbolted get a new one from wrecking yard

You don't mention what type of vehicle you have but a company named dorman sells oversized self tapping bolts for that problem. They are sold in most part stores under the " HELP!" brand. Just replace the bolts with those and you should be in good shape

If you must retap them, get a Helicoil kit at the auto store, that way you can use the original bolts. But I do agree with the 1st answer, new ones are the way to go.

Use a helicoil kit. All you do is drill out the hole to the specified size, thread the hole, then screw in the helicoil. It will back to original size.

Take it to a machine shop.. or buy new ones. They may not be that expensive depending on your vehicle.

get a tap and die set and rethread them youself.
