Monoply is a great classic. There also a great board game out of Germany called Settlers that's a lot of fun. Outburst and Mad Gab are fun party games, as is Screen It. That should get you started.

Ticket To Ride
Carcassonne
Settlers of Catan (although I am not fond of this one)
Blokus
If you aren't a beginner, here are my favorites:
Pitchcar (hard to find, and very suitable for beginners also)
Power Grid
Ra
Shadows over Camelot.
Memoir 44
