I think it is due to uneven distribution of resources. Money accumulated only by bill gates is greater than the sum of money possessed by MANY poor countries. Similarly in agricultural countries a lot of land that can be irrigated is not because the owner has just bought it for investment purposes. If that land is given to poor farmer then not only his needs will be fulfilled but that of many others will also be. It is also seen that poor countries due to lack of resources (Money mostly, to buy better technology and chemicals) are unable to produce crops and vegetables up to the potential thus creating shortage. If 25% money of the top 50 richest people is distributed among the top 50 poor countries then the problem of resource deficiency can be reduced to a great extent

(Islam encourages and proposes a system of equal distribution of resources while strictly prohibits population control)

communism takes individual's control over money and transfers it to the state which very unfair. This discourages any one to work hard to make money as every thing can be taken away by the state
Islam proposes a model that mandates people to at least give 2% of yearly saving for welfare purposes and encourages more amount to be given.
No one makes his fortune on his own, luck plays a vital role. Thus if GOD has supported one, then he should also support GOD's creations

Neither. The "financial/resource problems of the world" are entirely due to bad government policies and poorly designed institutions.

With that in mind, let's evaluate some of your claims...

If 25% money of the top 50 richest people is distributed among the top 50 poor countries, then most of this money will be commandeered by those countries' govermnents to finance their military ambitions (including wars against their own people). Poverty, war, and corruption go hand in hand...

If Islam indeed "proposes a system of equal distribution", how come there is a huge income difference between, say, Bahrain and Yemen?

Well i do agree that its more to do with uneven distribution of resources.... take the case of india.. it has huge buffer stocks of food but still many die of starvation deaths there... the answer is not in communism or capitalism... the answer probably lies in better systems which ensure that all human beings regardless of status do get equal access to basic resources.
As far as money distribution of the rich is concerned,.. i dont think mere disbursing of aid will solve the problem.... Africa is full of dictatorships which receive aid in billions of dollars every year..yet it also remains the most impoverished continent..
I think the answer to solve all this is... better systems and accountability... i dont think ideology really matters...

Most global economic problems are based more on a concentration of power than wealth. Poor countries are poor because of restrictive governments headed by a limited number of megalomaniacs who are concerned more about their own power, prestige, and wealth, than that of their people.

The US contributes billions if not trillions in aid to African countries, and has for many decades. All this has served to do is line the pockets of corrupt regimes that 'process' the contributions. The people rarely see it. As a result, Africa is still a hole.

Nationally (or internationally) mandated redistribution of wealth will not solve the problem--the failure of communism demonstrates that pretty clearly. If all people are given the freedom to better themselves without the intrusion or mandated redistribution of their wealth by their governments, most will choose to do that rather than to continue living in poverty. If money is given to them, they have less incentive to provide for themselves (as you mentioned).

Make the world free, allow (but do not require) people to give to charity, and expect the common man (and woman) to be responsible for his/her own destiny, and the world's economic woes will be significantly reduced.

Bill Gates is one of the nation's most preeminent philanthropists--people just take out their frustrations with Windows on the success of the guy behind it.

If you give a poor farmer land, you create the potential for him to farm and provide for himself and others, but what if the guy is a lazy dirtbag who'd much rather watch the flies on his porch than get off his lump and actually do something with the land that was given to him?

You've answered your own question and Islam doesn't have the answer--that's communism. Bill Gates and other rich people have worked for their fortunes (and inherited fortunes were still made by hard work of someone), so what they do with it is their business, although your thought of 25% of their income would help the world is true. We can't force them to do this.

Population is very high in some third world countries because of their religious beliefs (e.g. many oppose birth control), as well - due to the high infant mortality rates, these same families tend to have more children to offset the possibility of losing some. These children are needed to help on farms, etc.
