I would really need more information to accurately help with this question, but I don't know of any way that (what I assume is) engine oil can get into a transmission. Yes, they are bolted together, but are two separate components. They do not share a common cooler, at least on any vehicle I've ever worked on, which would be the only way oil could be transferred. Oil may be leaking out the topside of your engine (like a valve cover gasket) and running down the outside of the transmission case, that is the only thing I can think of. However, if it's antifreeze that's getting into your transmission (automatic transmission only), then you have a defective radiator. The transmission cooler runs through the radiator to help cool the transmission fluid, and if the cooler cracks, it can allow antifreeze to get into the transmission fluid. If this is the case., the radiator needs replacement, and the transmission flushed.

If oil is leaking into the transmission then it means that the bell housing very well be cracked and the trans needs to be pulled and the bell housing needs to be worked on. If the trans is leaking oil then it could be a simple fix (oil pan gasket needs replaced etc.) What kind of car is and did you get a second opinion? This maybe a simple fix. Hope this helps.

I agree completely with lugnutz59, there is no oil connection between the engine and transmission, it sounds to me like the mechanic is trying to take advantage of you.

Transmissions take a special kind of oil which is didifferent than your regular (crankcase) motor oil. If you motor oil leaks into your transmission, it can damage your transmission. That is a very expensive thing to fix.

Lugnutz is right on the money! Good answer, I will come by and check that out for you. I will check and make sure you have a tight seal and see what I can do about your oil leaking! PLUG IT UP!!

Chances are you have a bad gasket and it has to be changed. They will go out after awhile and can be costly if your not careful. Do you know a good mechanic that will do the work for you honestly. While your at it it is a good idea to change the filter as long as you got the pan off. Don't panic it usually not as bad as it sounds.

it means within a shortime your transmission will give out and your engine will seize up,its not common though you would have to have a serious crack in your engine, and you would of known that awhil ago, because your engine would of seized up,before anything is done get a second oppinion, when they say this they usually lie, because the odds are about 1,000,000 to 1
