I work in a small retail store and always make sure to say hello to everyone who walks. I also wish them a good day or weekend when they leave and thank them for their business.

Quite a few people just say something like "ya" and leave.

I've also noticed that when I go to other stores and resetaurants you rarely have someone saying thank you/have a great day, let alone hello when you
walk in.

Why have people stopped caring and become so rude?

Also, smile once in a while! It will make you feel good as well as the person the smile is directed to. It won't kill you.

I think one of the only places I get a smile now is McDonalds, and even they are lacking in the smile department nowadays.

I agree! It makes me not want to shop somewhere when they don't say hello to me, or are gruff and just grab my money!
And what drives me the most nuts is when the cashiers continue to have a conversation with their friend the cashier next to them and just ignore me, the person they are serving.

All I can say is good for you to continue to be polite and greet people. You're what's needed in the world!!

Don't give up on society. Just appreciate the people that you meet who are very nice, smile, and wish you a good day. They may be few and far between, but they are diamonds in the rough!

Have a good day!

I think it is that some people are just too busy to say hello or thanks. It's sad. I make it a point to say thanks or hello if I see someone. I think it makes the person you are dealing with feel better...like they have done a good job and you appreciate that they have helped you. Politeness has went to the wayside....

Have a great day :)

Do not despair. I agree that people are becoming more and more self-involved and detached. Like others who have responded, I encourage you not to give up and to continue to be a keeper and dispenser of the Light.

Some people just want to be left alone. Don't take it personal. Keep smiling and greeting people.
