Is a vasectomy reversable?

A vasectomy should be considered permanent.Consultation

It is preferable to have a consultation on a separate day to assess:

Your medical history
Physical examination
Suitability of a No Scalpel Vasectomy Procedure

Although there are surgical procedures to reverse vasectomies, these are not universally successful. Vasectomy is considered a permanent form of birth control which is intended to make a man permanently sterile. A vasectomy should not be performed with the concept that "it can always be reversed later".

It can be, depending on the method of sterilization used (simple clamping has a better chance than cauterization for example). Even at best, there's less than a 40% chance of success. It is painful, time consuming and EXPENSIVE.

Doctors can go back in and reattach, but there is still a chance that things wont work and pregnancy may not be possible.

They say yes but it does not always work. If he had one your doctor should have spoken to him about that. If he is planning on having one done speak to his doctor about all of his options first. good luck to you.
