No, the Armed Forces repeatedly state that they have exceeded their recruition goals by 50% last year. They have no reason to re-enact the draft.

Write your government officials. Demand that if you can't pass a drug test they really shouldn't take you.

But when the draft comes think of all the good music we're gonna get! Tell you what, in the last draft the government thought rock 'n' roll was a Communist Conspiracy. Armed Forces wouldn't play any Hendrix.

In the event that we go to war with N. Korea, deploy troops to Israel, and reinforce troops already in Iraq and elsewhere, then we might have to initiate a draft. Our armed forces can't be stretched too thin.

The draft never went anywhere, you still have to fill out a card. You just don't ever hear about it because enough people join on there own now.

I don't think there will be, but I do think there should be one--actually, the idea of mandatory military service for citizens between 18 and 26 years of age is worth considering. One, it would get young people off the streets and out of trouble during their prime troublemaking years; two, it would turn them into mature, responsible citizens.
