Intelligence from suspected terrorists held in secret overseas locations give the authorities here in the U.S. and other countries thwarted potential terror attacks on our soil. Remember how authorities thwarted a planned attack on the Lincoln Tunnel? A suspected terrorist, who was held at a secret location in Lebanon, spilled the beans on the whole plot. That prompted authorities to move in fast and arrest the plotters involved while the plot was in its early stages. The same could be said in Miami where several people were arrested for plotting to blow up the FBI headquarters in that city and the Sears Tower in Chicago. That's why there were no more terror attacks in this country since 9-11!

Well, there have been actions in motion against us that have been stopped, so we have prevented some. Also, because we brought the fight to them on their own ground. Losing their homeland and foothold in the region to us would be more damaging to them than attacking us would help them. Also by fighting over there, we disrupt their communication and heirarchy which makes it harder to plan and carry out attacks
I think attacks are still in the works, but they are likely fewer since we went over there.
