I do this all the time...even when i KNOW its going to happen...
when i call someone and their message machine says "HI (long pause) leave a message"
i always try to talk to the person during that long pause because i think they are answering the phone...and i feel like an idiot becuase im just randomly talking to no one.
have you ever done this!!

Hehehe, I have a cousin of mine, and he just picks up the phone and says "Yeah, it's me," and I generally start talking already then because it sounds like he's really picked up the phone, but then he goes on to say "this is my answering machine, I'm not here right now. Leave a message. Bye."
XD I keep falling for it, hehe..

All the time!! People set up their voice mail, ect to fool people. It's funny but mean! And yes, it makes me feel like an idiot.

That's funny ! No. I've never done it myself, but I have caller ID, so when someone calls, and I don't know who it is ( mainly telemarketers ), I don't pick it up, but they go ahead and start talking. " Hello ? Hello? ...is ---- there??? I need to talk to ----"
It's hilarious ! When no one answers, they just hang up without leaving a message. LOL !!!

ya thats happend with me too n i feel foolish after that. then the beep comes n i forget to leave appropriate message. then i call again with a prepared message n say it all ... ha ha hahaaa

I think everyone has done it. And yes I feel stupid when it happens to me but in reality no one actually knows you did it unless you tell them :)

the recorded answer is worse!
"I can't come to the phone right now", yes we know that otherwise I wouldn't be listening to your recording telling me that, duh....
"Please leave you name and number", no instead I will just ramble on about something because I'm too stupid to realize that you might need to know who this is and how to get in touch with me, unless of course my reason for calling is stupid and a waste of everybody's time, duh....
