If you are thinking of quality of life, then probably Austria (or maybe Switzerland). If you are thinking about cultural traditions, probably England (at least for a Westerner). If you are thinking about military and economic might, it would have to be China.

USA isn't the greatest country, and it is arrogant to think so. It may be the richest currently, but its ecconomy is failing and could well soon collapse.
But, I'd have to say Russia. You may have forgotten about them since the break up of the USSR occured, but they aren't out of the picture by any stretch of the imagination.
