Blue screens are almost always bad. Can you get into Windows at all? Have you started it in safe mode? Restart and press F8 for that. If you get in, try running Programs-->Accesories-->System Tools--> Disk cleanup

If you aren't afraid of losing information, try reinstalling the operating system.

If you can give us the specific error you are getting, when it happens during startup, and tell us what version of windows you use, we can help you more.

Firstly can you post back the following info ...

On the XP Install which File System was the drive formatted with - FAT 16 - FAT 32 - NTFS.

On the old windows Install which File System was the drive formatted with - FAT 16 - FAT 32.

Make - Model and Partition info for your Hard Drive.

Was your install an update to Windows xp or a clean install of XP?

First, try using FDISK (On windows 9x and ME). It's on the boot-disk.

On windows 2000 and XP, boot from your CD, and delete your hard drive partition when it asks you which partition you want to install on. After that, create a new partition that uses all of the drive space (Or if you are experienced with partitions, want to install Linux, etc., do it however you like)

If that doesn't work, time to get a new hard drive

uhm, get a new HD for your laptop? I assume you can't even load an OS. They're not 2 expensive, but I would chekc with the manufacturer to find out what you can do, warranty, special deals, specs, etc....
