Hi I am 30 weeks pregnant, does the size of my tummy say anything about the growth of child? how big should that be at this stage.

no it doesnt mean diddly squat, what matters is that it continues to grow. Some women show more than others, some less, and some dont show at all through the majority of their pregnancy. It means nothing more than your anatomy is different.

So long as you are progressing at some rate, and the doctors find no cause for alarm, (like you havent changed in size for 6-8 weeks, at which point they would order and ultrasound) theres no real set rate.

They do compare you to an average, that averages are just that.... averages of all different rates and sizes.

dont stress over it :)

Not really. I have had 3 children, pregnant with number 4. I always measure about 2 weeks smaller than my due date but all my children were between 8-9 lbs and born within a week of their due dates with the first 2 being only 2 days off and 1 day off respectively.

But even though that's my experience it is important for the doctors to keep track of your "fundal height" because there are times when measuring small can mean that the baby isn't developing properly.

All women carry differently. Some look huge and some not so much. As long as your doctor says things are going well then don't worry. The only measurements that are somewhat consistent between women are how the uterus measures. In general the uterus measures in cm along with how many weeks you are, so if you are 30 weeks then your uterus should be about 30 cm long. Your doctor should be measuring it at every visit.

The size and growth of the baby isn't determined by the size of your stomach but by the size of the placenta, not everyone gets huge I was small and my baby was 6 pounds and she came 3 weeks early!! At your next doctors visit ask them to do an unltrsound and they can estimate the weight of the baby.

every woman is different. Every woman carries different also. You should be "popped out there" by now, you know visable, which I am sure you are. And just to let you know, with my first child, I had a great obgyn that would give you an ultrasound everytime you seen him. And he said that by going by the ultrasounds and my belly that I would have about a 7lbs. baby, well the little man came out weighing 8lbs. 13.5 oz. so don't let em fool ya! lol...... Good luck!

When my wife was pregnant I told her it look like the alien movie when the alien grew inside the guy and popped out. She cryed all night for no reason after that. Her friends hated me too after that.

Yes. Supposedly, if you measure from bottom of buldge to top of buldge in cm, that's how many "real" weeks you are. So you should measure 30 cm.
