Planning a murder? Shots inside a house? uummmm
A cannon type piece would be muffled with the walls. A sharp crack would probably go farther. (its a frequency thing)

Mikem is right about how well the house is insulated. It would also depend on factors like which room it was in relative to which direction the person to hear it was (how many walls it had to travel through). It also depends on the type and caliber of the gun. For instance, handguns differ greatly in the decibles they put out. Shotguns are a tremendously loud BOOM that would travel through walls easier (they are bassy), but high caliber rifles give a loud crack that can travel for a couple miles out in the open on a relatively flat plain.
I would say generally under average conditions, 1/4 mile at least.

Depends how well insulated the house is, how well the doors fit,if there is double glazing, which way the wind is blowing outside.
So many, many factors it would be impossible to give a specific answer.
It would also depend on the type of gun.

I am unsure technically, but i would imagine it would have a lot to do on weather conditions and fog and such. If one were to shoot a gunshot in a canyon one may hear the echo from it. If you were to shoot in fog the same may happen. So, it may be hard to say.
