My wife is pregnant and suffered horrible morning sickness which was compounded by the caffiene withdrawal. She posed the question to her doctor who advised it would be fine in moderation. So long as you are not chugging coffee day and night, you should be fine, but give your doctor a call just to be on the safe side.

If that's what you've been doing before your pregnancy, then go on and continue. After all, it's just 1 cup of coffee. The Dr. don't really want you to drink it just because of the caffeine that it has in it but it won't hurt your baby. Dr.'s always want you to stay away from caffeine and sugar while your pregnant but it's not going to HURT the baby. My sis in law is pregnant and due next week and every time she even takes a sip of coke her baby starts doing back flips! lol..... I am due in 6 more weeks and I drink a cup of cappachino a day and nothing bothers my baby like that. I drank that stuff before I got pregnant on a regular basis. So Good luck and Congrats! Go and see an obgyn!

After the first trimester, I went to one cup a day. If I had one cup of coffee, I didn't have soda. You can safely have so many grams of caffeine, and one cup comes way under that number. But remember, chocolate and other foods also have caffeine, so don't get too much of it.

Best place for all of your questions like this is actually http://www.babycenter.com We found this an excellent resource when we had the same type of questions.
Regarding caffeine while your pregnant, occasionally it is ok, but I'd try to stay away from it daily or to excess. If all else fails ask your OB, they should always have the final say.

I did a bit of research about caffeine when I became pregnant, because I love to drink Coke. I think the main risk is miscarriage. I don't think one cup of coffee would be bad, but perhaps you want to try decaf for a bit just to be on the safe side.

I have heard different answers to this from medical doctors, with some saying the daily cup is okay and others saying none whatsoever. My understanding is the occassional one cup of coffee might be alright, just don't touch alcohol. Of course, to be on the safe side, check with your doctor and obstetrician. Oh, and Congratulations!!!

Doctors don't recommend it. Im not a coffee drinker but I love Pop! They told me not to drink it, I did. My baby is a happy, jumping 7 month old. I also have a aunt who was a heavy coffee drinker, she has 2 small boys, and drank coffee during her pregnancy and they r fine. I guess if u strongly feel it's unsafe then don't drink it. I have no guarantee's

My ob/gyn told me that it was alright in moderation but that if I could cut down while pg that it really would be best. So I ended up cutting down on my daily intake and then switching to decaff and then ultimately wheening myself off of it completely.
