Why does a non professional have to wait 6 months in order to start working in London?

I'm in healthcare, not a doctor, but was told I couldn't start working for 6 months

because your NON proffesional so you have less priveleges.

I don't know, but I also heard you had to give 3 months notice when you wanted to leave your job. i thought that was crazy, in the US it's two weeks!
