The age at which you can get a Learner's Permit varies by state (either 15 or 16 years old), but you cannot get an actual license until age 16. Some states also place restrictions on driving for minors (for example, may not drive past 11 PM).

Well it depends what state you live in, some have a certain age (usually about 15 or 16). Also some states have a learners permit you have to get before you can drive legally. In Pennsylvania (where I live) at the age of 16 you can go take a written exam to get your learner's permit, which you have to have an adult 18 or older in the passenger seat whenever you are driving. Also, you have to have the learners permit for 6 months until you can get your drivers license. You can go to www.dmv.org to choose a certain state and their driving rules.

Each state grants drivers' licenses to people of various ages. Your question implies that there is a blanket age, but there is not a federally regulated rule on the matter. Most states allow people to drive at 16 years of age. Learners' Permits have more variety, and some states require Drivers' Ed. classes before permanent licenses are issued.

It depends on which state you are in as each state decides legal driving ages. Most of the time, you can be a licensed driver at age 16... which I think is too young by the way! We can't trust 16 year olds with cigarettes but we can trust them with a 2000 lb steel car on a highway, that just doesn't make sense.

depends what state you live in. here in minnesota, you get your permit (so you can drive with an adult in the vehicle) at 15, and your actual drivers license at 16. but i also know it is different in other states. in south dakota, for instance, you get your permit at 14 and after 90 days (if you took drivers ed, otherwise 6months or something like that) you get your restricted license where you can drive alone between certain hours. then i think at 15 you get your license. also, as mentioned by other people, in some states you get it as late as 18 years old.
so, in answer to your question, it really depends on the state. many have different ages so i would expect anywhere from 14-18 years.
hope i helped!

It varies from state to state. Normally 16 or 17 for a license, and 15 or 16 for a learners permit.

it depends upon the situation - and the state
Average permit age is 15
Average DL age is 16 - if the person is still in school and has passing grades - no grades no DL
However, there is such a thing as a hardship license which means that the person can get their license at an earlier age but that it is used only for work and transporting another person like parent who is incapable of driving themselves due to illness or handicap etc....
There are all types of exceptions I: would check with the state Dept of Motor Vehicle and DL....
