They are hitting Lebanon and Syria because they house terrorists like Hezbolah (however you spell it). They are waging war on certain targets. War sometimes has civilians casualties. Perhaps if the Arabs would leave Israel alone for once they wouldn't have to defend themselves all the time. Israel has every right to be where they are and Palestine had its chance to be recognized as a nation. They were just SELFISH and couldn't agree to the partition.
The state of Israel was legally created out of the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I. The area was desolate, desert and swamp, with some small towns and a few inhabitants, many of them nomads. The inhabitants considered themselves mostly Syrian. The Balfour Declaration issued by the British, who were given the mandate over the area by the League of Nations. Jews have lived in the country since Biblical times. The Arabs from the surrounding areas were lured to "Palestine" by the industry and prosperity that the Jews brought to the region. Envy, hatred and religious fanaticism turned the Arabs against the Jews. In 1947, under pressure, the British resigned their mandate. The same year, the United Nations mandated partioning of the territory. The Jews, though disappointed, accepted the partition. The Arabs rejected it and launched war against Israel. The armies of five Arab countries invaded. Following the exhortations of the invaders, the Arab residents got out of the way hoping to return after victory was attained. They could then reclaim their property and that of the Jews, all of whom would have been killed or would have fled. Israel won. That and that alone is the source of the Palastinian "refugees". Had the Arabs accepted the UN partition plan, there would now have been a state of "Palestine" for the last 58 years. The might have attained a similar level of prosperity, advancement and development as Israel. 50% of Israel's population now includes refugees from Morocco, Algeria, Iraq and Yemen. All were accepted by Israel with open arms and have become successful members of their society. The Palestinians refused to integrate these refugees into their population and instead confined them to "refugee camps". The ones there are now fourth generation and through no fault of Israel.

There is really old story about a boy who cried wolf. How many times do we have to go to the well when the Pal/Isr situation becomes embroiled? Do we have to jump in every time? Or do we sit back and let them continue to pummel each other?
I really do not know. I do not profess to have enough information or knowledge to make an educated decision on the matter.
I can say, obviously, that I do not think that civilians should be hurt BUT I also do not know when/what/where/to whom and when. The ENTIRE situation is a HUGE can of worms that I really DO NOT have enough info about. AND as we have heard on more than one occasion, a little information is a dangerous. thing.
All I can say is that I hope some time cool head's will prevail and the entire situation will become history as all the peoples of the region get to live together in peace and harmony.
Yeah, right.

Basically the Hezbollah was founded by Iran’s regime at first . They have a similar religion with this group and the nature of the group was to terrorising the region because their main slogan is to wipe out Israel from the region .
And now is a good time to re-direct the international attention from their Nuclear crisis. But the question is why some of European country do back Iran’s regime indirectly because of their economic interest?

No outcry!!! Poor civilians on both sides are killed or kidnapped. However, the jungle law says survival is for the stronger and the world does not respect the stupid weak. Hamas and Hezbollah were not intelligent enough when they kidnapped the "3" soldier, unless they acknowledge that just three Israeli soldiers are worthy of killing, and kidnapping hundreds of Palestinians and destroying the infrastructure in Gaza and Lebanon besides besides impoverishing and famining thousand of people.
Then who do you want the world to condemn, Israel or Hamas and Hezbollah?
And is condemnation enough for saving people on both sides?

There is no outcry because most of the World is sick of Muslim terrorists, their midevil way of thinking, and their cowardly tactics. Hezbollah, Hamas and Al Queda are responsible for all of the death, injury and suffering in the middle-east, not Israel or the US who just respond when provoked.

It was in response to an act kidnapping. Call it reciprocity! Perhaps you would defend the perpetrators if it were your family member that was abducted or perhaps you would realize that this kind of hostile act needs a firm response; or if it were your family "no outcry" would indeed be the correct response.

" yet Bush defended Israel's 'right to defend itself'"
So are you saying that they don't have a right to defend themselves, it may be extreme but definitely not unprovoked. Lebanon killed 4 Israeli soldiers and captured more with the threat of killing them also.

Israel follows the example of its friendly bigger brothers.
Some afghan kills loads of Americans, so America virtually wipes Afghanistan off the map. Iraq helps, so US does the same to them.
Some Palestinian kills/kidnaps some Israelis, so Israel fights back. Lebanon helps, ditto. Why? "America did it, so can we."
The more powerful will always maintain ways of proving their power.
BOOM.

We'll leave the condemnation to morons like you.
Because normal people understand that Israel is fighting for her life.
Youre going to be pretty darn upset when Lebanon and the Gaza strip are flat i bet.

I'm with you on this one. If Palestine rolled their tanks into Brooklyn there would be a fight. I really am not going to get into a political pissing match w/ pro Israelis; all I will say is that you are correct.
