Why is it that people are always bashing the US? If I remember correctly, our government doesn't impose any laws that states that you can't move to another country. So why then do we have those who hate the president, who hate the constitution, and who hate the way America was set up? I know we live in a democracy government. But if you really hate it that bad then just move elsewhere.

My sarcastic answer is, "Because there's so much still left to bash."

Conservatives, especially those who subsist on the Fox News six-second sound bite, love to portray social liberals like me as people that "hate America".

Do I hate America? Of course not! I love America. I love the ideals of the Declaration of Independence where it states that all men are endowed with the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I cherish the Constitutional notions of checks and balances. I worship the freedoms laid out in the Bill of Rights. I take seriously the welcoming call of the Statue of Liberty to give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.

What people see as "hate" would be more properly described as "disappointment". I am disappointed when our leaders and our nation stray from these sacred American ideals. If there is any hate, it is not for America or Americans, it is for the leadership that betrays America.

I say that if you love something or someone, then you are particularly concerned when that something or someone turns out to be broken or sick. When your child has a fever, you don't waste time bragging to everyone that he's an honor student, you take him to the doctor. And you don't accuse the doctor of hating your child when he points out that he has an infection. You thank the doctor, you get the prescription antibiotics, and you work hard to heal your child.

I love America, so there's no reason I should leave. Loving America means staying here and putting in the hard work needed to see America live up to her ideals.

There's nothing wrong with pointing out America's problems. If you can't identify the problems, you can't begin to solve them. When America has done something wrong, however, I'm more than happy to blame America first. For example, America illegally invaded, occupied, and tortured the people of a sovereign nation that was no threat to us. Who am I supposed to blame for that, Zimbabwe?

Both sides love America and both sides see plenty that is wrong with America and in need of fixing. The real difference between us is not in our love of country, but in our assessment of what is really wrong with it.

So from now on, quit asking me why I hate America so much just because I disagree with you about what's wrong with her. I am going to keep pointing out what is wrong until I can convince enough people to help me save the country I love. I can only hope you will be doing the same.

people bash the goverment not the country. it is the role of the people to crtizise the goverment. remember they were hired by us. we hired them to a job, and when they fail they have to be held accountable like any other job. we just cant give them a blank check and let them do whatever they want. that is why we have elections to make them be acountable. if they do there job they are rehired if not they are fired. im glad we have a democracy were can we can voice our opinion, remember the constitution was written by the people for the people becasue we wanted to have checks and balances of our goverment and they are "public servants" of the people. they are not dictators or tyrants were they are not allowed to be asked critical questions by the press. telling people to leave the country is a dangerous comment becasue what makes somebady more patriotic then another to say that, we all love this country (a majority) and we want our goverment to do the right thing. i think the people (the voters) have the right to critisize and speak up for what they think is right for our country. when we start telling people they cant and get out i think that is wrong becasue what makes your views better then theres we all have something to bring to the debate of what is right for the country.

Some people are only happy when they have something to whine about. They would love the US if they had to live in some third world country for awhile.

Bush hates the US Constitution!

That makes him enemy of the US.

Real citizens of this country are required to be against Bush and
should stay here and help tarnish him to defeat!

I think a lot of people have a problem being thankful for what they have. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
