Do you mean giving or receiving? If it's receiving,neither exactly feels good but I'll take the slap. If it's giving,I always enjoyed throwing a good punch with my fist.

A fist can always do damage, for example a punch in the nose that hurts your eyes tear up you can't see, maybe your nose is broken, A slap can be effective too like against the ear hard it hurts. But I'll take a slap to the cheek any day over a punch.

Neither! Both are considered battery and a misdemeanor under the law of almost all states. Unless you have a penchant for prison food...don't do it!
