I think it's due to the fact, that we have evolved to the point, where we consider that the buying and the selling of people, is against individual human rights. However slavery has been in existence for thousands of years, The Bible even has laws for the Jews on how to treat their slaves, manservant, and maidservant. The Romans had slaves from all the countries they conquered. It has existed all through history. The black do not have a corner on having been slaves. Jews, Greeks, etc. down through history have also been slaves. The Egyptian used the Jewish slaves to build the pyramids, etc. All you have to do is read your history, and learn this. When one tribe conquered another the women especially were made slaves, and often married into that tribe. It was simply the way of things back then.

I don't think there are too many people ignorant enough to believe that slavery began with America. However, slavery in the U.S is focused on because it's had suck a lasting effect on today's society. Also, while other countries had slaves as a means of payment (ie indentured servitude), America had slave purely for greed/oppression. Also, there was no rhyme or reason as to who were enslaved other then skin color. There was no debt that was owed or anything like that. People are so quick to point out that it was the Africans who enslaved and sold their own people. However no one mentions why. For many countries, as I said, enslavement was a form of payment, for the U.s. enslavement was a way to build the country for free off the backs of the darker races.

Slavery DID NOT begin with Africans.
Women in American society were slaves to begin with WAY before men imported slaves from Africa.
They weren't allowed to pick their husbands, they weren't allowed to own or sell land, vote, or hold a job of any kind. They were beaten and abused by their mates, and made to work killing hours around the home. (not all of them, but most)
Most of the time, if her husband died, she was out on the street unless a MAN in the family took over her care. And then she and her children were used as household help and maids.
The original slaves were women!!!! When they started fighting the wrongness, men started looking for other slaves.... hence Africans were used

Because schools don't teach the full history and it may be politically incorrect to point out to Blacks that not only did most African tribes practice slavery, they started the slave trade.

Americans, perhaps while reading american history. But slavery existed way before its introduction into the US. It esixted in England, in Africa (to supply the Arab world), it existed pretty much all over the place. It still exists today in one form or another

Because Americans showed the worst form of it.....that simple....And buddy talkin about slave trade and all that and slaves in Africa...look it up slaves in Africa were nothing like slaves in America...In Africa all their rights were not taken away they were treated more like indentured servents rather than sub-humans....And u say schools dont teach us...Schools dont teach black history at all....they just say americans had slaves but we freed them and Martin Luther king and Malcom X came and now we are equal...which is not at all how it was.....

A) Because they have no interest in history
B) Because slavery in the U.S. was the most recent abuse of humanity and the best documented.
