This fish is about a couple inches long and is all white except for a bump on its head. The bump is red and all fish of this type will have it. I am pretty sure that they are only sold in pet stores. Please help me out because I really want to buy this fish but I have to know the name of it and what it requires before I can buy it. Thanks for you help!!!

Red Cap Oranda- the answer above is inaccurate. Goldfish especcially delicate fancy goldfish are high maintenance fish. They require more water changes then other species because they produce large amounts of waste. They also get very large. Baby orandas should be kept 1 fish per 10 gallons. Adults are normally given more space then that up to 40 gallons per fish. They also need more filtration and O2 in the water. You should buy a 40 gallon filter if you have a twenty gallon tank with two goldfish. You should also provide an airstone- this will help circulate the water as well as increase O2 levels.

Orandas are also prone to swimbladder problems. If you feed flakes then feed them below the surface this will prevent them from gulping air at the surface. You should also supplement their diet with peas, zucc. or romaine lettuce. Goldfish food is too high in protein it will cause constipation and can also cause swimbladder issues.

Terrible Water conditions. Hope you realise that goldfish need 20-75 gallons of water PER fish depending on the variety. Fantails: 20 gallons Comets/Commons: 75 gallons. Terrible water quality leads to death. You need a bigger tank or smaller fish.

red cap goldfish. It doesn't require much, is an easy fish to take care of. just be careful with the feeding. over feeding is one of the most common problems with this fish, people look at them all chubby and think they need a lot of food but they don't.
