there are two types of string available, normal tune and hard tune, anyone know what the difference is?

I'm not sure but any decent guitar place would be able to guide you. If you are just starting out, I would go for the normal tune strings as these are easier on your fingers. If you're a bit more experienced, the hard tune strings would give a crisper sound, but would need more pressure against the fret board to stop that buzzing thing. The hard tune ones hurt ya fingers more as well.

Id start off with a normal tune which will probably be easier on your fingers (it may still hurt a bit but when you develop callouses it will stop) and then get a hard tune once the normal tune doesnt hurt your fingers, that way the hard tune wont hurt as much. Also once you start playing, dont stop (take breaks definitely but im on about long term) If you start developing callouses and then stop playing for a few weeks, chances are that he callouses will go and it will hurt your fingers again :)
