It's not even close - Babe Ruth by a mile.

How can anyone in their right mind even think that Clemente should be mentioned in the same breath as Ruth? Ruth destroys him not only in all the counting stats, but even in the critical ones like OBP (.474 to .359) and slugging (.690 to .475). Clemente was a good hitter, but he never walked and didn't have great power.

Seriously, how anyone can pick anyone besides Ruth (or Bonds, if you can get by the steroids issue) is crazy. And did someone actually say Cal Ripken, because he was classy? The guy was an arrogant SOB who got crazy mad when his manager dared to make him sit out an inning - yeah, that's class.

Roberto Clemente, Pittsburgh Pirates, How can anyone say Babe Ruth, The man stood behind home plate and hit the ball, He was to fat to run or to field, Clemente had it all, every managers dream, And he had a heart as big as the Earth, He died in an airplane taking food and supplies to his needy people. Thats a True Champion in my book

I would say babe Ruth because there werent as many games played as today. So he had less games to prove what a slugger he really was.(New York Yankees)
As a child I always liked Pete Rose.He still belongs in the Hall of Fame because what he did as a coach has NOTHING to do with what he did as an All-Star!!

Well, that's disputable, but I'd say Babe Ruth, who played for the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Braves.
