I already went to Iraq so I didn't "waste the taxpayers money". I just don't see how it's actually possible to say you have to support the pres to support the troops when a whole lot of troops don't support him themselves.

I know plenty of sailors who are in places all around the world (including the Middle East) who do not support what the president is doing.

Depends on what you mean by supporting yourself -- if you want to run for president, there are certain criteria (and if you're active duty, I don't think they'll let you miss troop movements to run your campaign) You don't have to agree with the president or vote him back into office during election years (not an issue this time around), but you do still have to follow orders. If you were a bona fide conscientious objector, you might have a leg to stand on, but you're out of luck if you only object to THIS war, sorry. And unless you are 100% certain that in a court martial (or in front of a senate committee) you can prove that this war is 100% illegal and therefore all orders related to it can be disregarded by the folks in uniform, disobeying orders or missing troop movement as a protest against the war will simply land you in a cell in Leavenworth with a 300 pound sexual offender all the inmates either call "Bubba" or "Mother."

The role of the military is to follow orders, regardless of whether they want to go to war or not. Ours is not to question those orders unless they go against the law or make no sense -- if everybody missed movements because they just didn't want to go, we wouldn't have an effective military, and we would be open to our many, many enemies. You swore an oath, and as long as you are active duty, you are expected to uphold the oath to protect and defend us against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Sure. Go AWOL. No one seems to care anymore.

Just remember... it's an all volunteer army. You can always leave dishonorably after signing up and wasting taxpayer dollars on your training.

plenty of people have jobs taht they do where they don't like thier boss. It's the same thing... their job is that of a soldier, they just don't like their boss, who happens to be the president.

You should of thought about that before you VOLUNTEERED. Besides you are in the minority NOT majority. You are also entitled to your opinion since you have served to protect mine. Thanks.
